Hello, I'm Lee Kelley, I grew up in Turnersville and I'm proud to call it home. Though I got here a little late to attend school at Turnersville ISD I was blessed to attend Jonesboro ISD from 2nd thru 12th grades, GO EAGLES. I enlisted right after high school and retired from the Air Force before moving back here in 2005.

In 1982, actress and former Turnersville “summertime” resident, Maree Cheatham began working on a documentary about Turnersville, TX. Maree is also the niece of Charlotte and Boyd Cheatham, whom I'm sure most of you remember well. Maree fell in love with Turnersville as a child while spending her summers here with her aunt and uncle.

In a moment I'm going to share a “Slide Show” of photos taken or collected by Maree to be used in the documentary. I am the Chairman of the Board of GodZone Ministry, a faith based film production ministry in Waco. We have teamed up with Maree to finish the project she started almost 40 years ago.

I have a personal interest in this documentary, not only because Turnersville is my home, but that my wife and I own the old high school, one of the communities greatest remaining structures that reflect memories of many generations.

My greatest desire is to restore the building to help keep the History of Turnersville from just fading away into a foot note in a few obscure books.

Progress is slow and renovation needs are great, but one day the Turnersville High School will be the The Studios at Turnersville, a studio facility for media ministry, filmmaking, audio recording, etc. As well as an auditorium available for many types of programs.

If you would like more information about how you can help with the renovations of the high school or Maree's documentary please pick up some literature at one of the entrance tables.

I would also like to call your attention to the old Presbyterian Church, which house “Coryell Fellowship Church” where I serve as Worship Pastor. I hope you've noticed the renovations taking place there as well.

I love Turnersville and I know you do too, so please be sure to pick up some information on how you can be a part these projects that are sure to preserve the historical value and memories of Turnersville, Texas.

Thank you and have a blessed Memorial Day.
